Dylan is such a special nurse. One that we will always be grateful for and one we will not forget.
We were very fortunate to have Dylan Caruso-Kjelsrud as my mom's nurse several times throughout our stay. I must admit that when Dylan first walked in as the nurses were changing shifts, my mom and I tensed up seeing it was a man. My mom is very proper and modest; this wasn't her comfort level. Let me tell you how quickly that changed! Dylan put my mom and me at ease right away. You could tell immediately that Dylan was so knowledgeable and loved his job. He was so respectful of my 82-year-old mom. Dylan did a lot of explaining about mom's changing meds; he was encouraging with my mom's progress with weight and with her walking. My dad has Alzheimer's, and for 2 days, I needed to stay with him, so my daughter stayed with my mom. Throughout the day, my daughter would text me, saying how great Dylan was with my mom and how smart he was. I told Dylan that I feel with my whole heart God put him in our path for my mom's care for her health, but also for the care of my dad. Dylan recognized the stress for my mom and our family, and he shared stories of his own family. Dylan sat with us for about 30 minutes just talking and having a conversation about my mom's situation. I can assure you that in the end, both my mom and I were in tears, and I even think Dylan was too. I told Dylan I felt like we had the best therapy session with him. Dylan is such a special nurse. One that we will always be grateful for and one we will not forget. One day, my mom had Dylan as a nurse, and at mid-day, he was called to leave my mom as he had to care for a patient who had just had surgery. At the end of his 12-hour shift, he hugged my mom and said how much he enjoyed her. That extra effort to make someone feel special shows how remarkable he is. Dylan is truly in the right profession.
