I am a patient of Dr. Y and have had several outpatient surgeries at Emory Johns Creek. For two of my surgeries, I was so fortunate to have Dymphna as my nurse before and after my surgeries. What a wonderful blessing this has been. The level of care she provided was outstanding. She was very professional and pleasant, to be sure. But the care I received from her went so far beyond that. Dymphna has the most beautiful, kind, compassionate, peaceful demeanor I have ever encountered. Just her very presence puts you at ease, which is such a wonderful quality for such a stressful and anxious situation. After she was my nurse the first time, I actually requested that she be my nurse during my following surgery, and I will continue to do so for my upcoming surgeries. When she is with me, she puts me so at ease and makes me feel so cared for, I just know that all will be well with my procedure. What a wonderful mindset to go into surgery with! I don't think it's possible to teach this type of "skill" to others, but would still definitely recommend other nurses shadowing her to glean at least some of what she does. Emory is very fortunate to have Dymphna on its staff, and I hope they realize what a beautiful gem they have in their employment.
