Edith helped me on the worst day of my life. My spouse and I were just given the news that I have lung cancer; we had just had it confirmed on that day. The hospital was really busy, and my day was bad. From 5 am to 5 pm, I had no food or water, because I was waiting to have a biopsy test. They had emergencies and delays, so it was a long day with a headache. I also have other things going on, so I was hungry, crabby, and scared; in short, I was a total mess.
That night, Edith showed up, the one bright spot in my horrible day. She calmed me, and took her time with me, and treated me like one would treat a family member. She knew I needed my sleep because I had been coughing for days and was so tired. She had others leave me alone that night so I could sleep. It meant the world to me. Thank you, Edith, for your compassionate care!
