Not only has Ed taken on a significant amount of responsibility since he transferred to the Family Medicine Department, he has filled in for almost every single position in the department. He received informal clerical training when we had a shortage of clerical staff to ensure patients could be seen on time when we were having issues with clerical staff coming on time. He received scanning training when our clerical staff in charge of paper management transferred to another department and our paperwork started to pile up, he took charge of the department and scheduled when our charge nurse was out for a week sick. Ed continues to train individuals and go above and beyond with the everyday duties of the department. He is often the first person to arrive and the last to leave. I do not think we could function nearly as well without Ed’s beyond-excellent leadership, not to mention his leadership roles on committees and his ability to keep us all informed of new developments. Ed also recently took on the role of safety officer to fill a departmental need after our previous one retired.
