We were in a rather serious situation and Edwin Flores was a tremendous help! I live in CT and my 71 year old sister, who has lived in Hawaii for years, had been displaced and put into a hotel by American Protective Services. While at the hotel, she had become physically ill and also suffers from early dementia. She had been brought to the ER by ambulance and had been very ill with dysentery prior to the ambulance arriving. Long story short, she was brought to the hospital in a johnny and released that evening in a johnny. She was literally waiting for a taxi in a wheelchair in front of the hospital wearing only the johnny. At that point we, (her family back east) were having to face the hard question as to whether or not to put her in to the psychiatric unit. I called the psychiatric department and Edwin answered the phone and was so calming and wonderful for me to talk to after being so scared for my sister's well being. He even went above and beyond by finding some clothes for her to wear and talking with her briefly and calming her down as well.
Words cannot describe how helpful Edwin was to my sister and to me. I am just a person he knew nothing about, calling from CT worried sick over my sister who was in such a dire situation 6,000 miles from us! I will never forget what he did for us. I am certain that his kindness is deep within him because he acted instinctually and I honestly do not think he was even aware of the positive impact he had on our situation!
