Despite not speaking the same language she could feel Liz’s care and compassion for her through her personality and care that was felt because it surpassed the language barrier.
Liz is one of those nurses that often does not receive the appropriate recognition for the daily effect she has on her patients and colleagues. She always comes to work with an upbeat and positive attitude generating a more positive work environment that extends past her encounters with faculty and into her patient care. She always has a smile on her face despite whatever challenges a difficult shift might bring.
One specific time I remember following a patient that only spoke Spanish the patient explained to me in Spanish that despite not speaking the same language she could feel Liz’s care and compassion for her through her personality and care that was felt because it surpassed the language barrier. Liz also deserves recognition for always finding time to help and check on her co-workers offering her assistance without hesitancy. As a charge nurse, I always appreciate how on top of things she is always thinking three steps ahead and looking for ways and avenues that best accommodate everyone’s needs.
