I was amazed. As soon as we got there, she explained everything step by step. Her touch on my arm felt as if I was being touched by an angel.
Wow, where do I start? I met nurse Libbie on my first day in the Cancer Infusion Center at the Wesley Long Cancer Center. She is a phenomenal nurse who is truly walking in her gift. She went over and beyond the call of duty in several ways. Nurse Libbie met me in the hallway as I was walking to the infusion room. She said, “Hi, I knew the pump was about to start going off, so I wanted to meet you first.” I’m thinking to myself, how thoughtful is this? I was amazed. As soon as we got there, she explained everything step by step. Her touch on my arm felt as if I was being touched by an angel. She was so outstanding that two other nurses came by to watch her in action as she explained to us all what she was doing to avoid later issues. The tears began to roll down my face because, at this point, I felt as if I totally trusted what she was doing. She then asked how I was doing and brought up a prior conversation that we had the week before. I’m like, how did she remember what we discussed last week? That let me know that she really listened to my concerns. She also came and found me in the radiation department downstairs one day to bring me a new infusion carrier for my pump. I had so many wow moments with Libbie because she was my nurse angel. Nurse Libbie deserves this award wholeheartedly. I have been a helping professional for 28 years and without a doubt she is the best nurse that I have encountered. I see it not just a job for her but a gift, a passion, and most of all a genuine care for the human spirit.
