On Sunday, the ED received a family involved in an auto vs ped situation. The family's child was brought to APH. The husband ended up going straight up to the OR with life-threatening injuries and the child expired at APH. The Mom/wife stayed in the ED for some time after getting scans and was notified about her child's death in the trauma bay. Libby consoled her. The patient's husband ended up coding in the OR but made it to the Trauma ICU. Once Libby heard about the husband's injuries and how he was most likely not going to survive through the day, she and the Ortho resident coordinated and took the patient over to see her husband in the ICU. The care, time and support she showed this family and wife in their tragic time were above and beyond the call.
