I have had the absolute pleasure of working with Ella in both the classroom and clinical setting. Ella truly meets the definition of an engaged and self-directed learner. I have been impressed time and time again by Ella's drive to dive deeper into her learning to understand the nursing process to its core. During her OB clinical rotation, I found Ella engaged in a meaningful conversation with several members of the interdisciplinary team. Her eager attitude rubs off on those around her! Once, I found Ella deeply engaged in conversation with an anesthesiologist, who was fielding her in-depth questions about epidurals during labor. On another shift, I found Ella being "quizzed" by a neonatologist in the special care nursery about the common causes of respiratory distress in neonates. To my pleasure, Ella was poised and confident despite not having covered this content in class yet. Ella is not satisfied with a surface-level understanding. She continually dives deeper to properly care for her patients. She is kind, compassionate, and a true leader. I do not doubt that Ella will be an excellent nurse, and her patients will be well cared for. I cannot wait to see what she accomplishes.
