I can't think of anyone more deserving of the DAISY Award than Ella Lam. She is an amazing nurse and leader! She is consistently working at 110% - I honestly don't know how she does it. As a nurse, she is extremely thorough, diligent, knowledgeable, and works at the highest level of integrity, empathy, compassion, honesty, and accountability. Ella never cuts one corner in her work and always does what is RIGHT and what is BEST for her patients. Her skill set, time management, and work ethic are unbelievable - to the point that we often joke that she must be a robot!
As a clinical nurse leader, Ella stays up to date with every patient's status, needs, plan of care while also foreseeing any possible issues and preparing for those as well. She works hard at ensuring a safe discharge for our patients by coordinating care, going out of her way to provide thorough education to patients and families, and by scheduling follow-up care for our high-risk patients. Furthermore, as a leader in this organization, she goes above and beyond by consistently seeking continuing education opportunities (attending seminars, becoming certified, etc.) to improve our practices, by being an integral part of organizational initiatives such as the new DMS boards, and by always taking initiative to be a stellar role model for our staff. She is a pleasure to work with and treats everyone with respect. She never hesitates to help whether it's turning a patient, starting an IV, changing a wound vac, doing skin checks for the whole floor, hunting down providers for orders, or just offering her support and reassurance. Whatever it is, you can be sure that Ella will get it done and get it done right! We are so lucky and proud to have her be a part of 6 West and the CNL team!
