She pampered me and showed a true understanding of what I was going through.
I was diagnosed with breast cancer in November of ’23. I have had some highs and lows during the past few months. One of these lows came this month when I came down with a case of pneumonia. I was admitted to the hospital from the ER on Thursday and my oxygen levels were very low. Elvira showed me care and compassion as I struggled to breathe on Friday night. She caressed my head, and she spoke gently to me to calm my fears and keep my breaths steady. She responded to my husband’s requests so quickly that I would have thought I was her only patient. She pampered me and showed a true understanding of what I was going through. I have no idea if she has had a family member who has been diagnosed with cancer, but it felt like a family member taking care of me. When I was moved to PCU on Saturday to better monitor my vitals, Elvira insisted on changing my bedding before I left so I would have clean bedding when I got to my new room.
At a time when I was so low mentally, emotionally, and physically, Elvira made me feel special at a time when I truly needed it. God put Elvira where she was needed to be for me and I truly thank Him, Elvira and Hamilton Medical.
