Emalee was an excellent advocate for my son when he was admitted to 5E. We were facing a very scary diagnosis (for a parent) and I had not slept in days. I had concerns about my son's condition and Emalee was the first person to validate and share my concerns. Even though she was very busy, she made time to call the doctor several times and relay our concerns. She continued to advocate for changes when the doctor was reluctant to make them overnight, all to help my 4-year-old feel better.
Emalee thought of ideas and suggestions for the doctor we hadn't yet considered, demonstrating her clinical expertise. Sometimes all a worried parent needs is to know that someone is fighting for their child's best interest and that their voice is being heard. Emalee did her absolute best to not only make him more comfortable but also to make me comfortable enough to actually get some sleep during her shift. I truly felt like Emalee treated my child as if he were her own and I have no doubt she treats all of her patients with the same amount of excellence and compassion. You really cannot ask for more in an individual taking care of your child.
