Emilie is part of a team that ensures all patients are taken care of even if they are not the assigned nurse.
The emergency room is a fast-paced environment with a great team of nurses! They come together on a daily basis to selflessly help others, not only patients but their fellow colleagues as well. Emilie is part of a team that ensures all patients are taken care of even if they are not the assigned nurse. This teamwork has earned Emilie Chaparro the honor of being named the April 2021 GCMC DAISY Award Honoree.
Emilie shadowed a nurse for four hours in the trauma center and knew that was her calling. Emilie was in awe of how well the nurse handled the multiple traumas that came in that night and knew from that night, the emergency department was where she wanted to work. Quickly from job shadowing, close friendships and mentors were formed. Emilie believes the best part of working in the emergency department is “the comradery among staff. The times when we take care of our most critical patients like a well-oiled machine and lean on each other for support”. Reminding Emilie why she chose to work for GCMC. And we are so glad that she did!
