I heard the voice of a woman saying to this patient "you're going to be alright. We got you." The voice was Emily's saying this to my sister who was fighting for her life at the time. When I got to go into the ICU, a team of doctors and nurses were fighting to keep my sister alive. And when this voice spoke to me as I was entering the room, she told me she was doing better and she has to stay calm. Ms. Emily is the best RN I have had the pleasure of seeing doing her job. The whole team who worked on my sister was great. But Ms. Emily was all above and beyond, an amazing nurse who just does her job well. She loves what she does. You don't have to ask her that. When you see her in action you are seeing the best of the best do it like no one else. She was kind, pleasant, thoughtful, and considerate and so much more. I heard her voice before I ever saw her and after I met her, her presence speaks volumes.
Not that I ever want to be, but if I were an ICU patient, Ms. Emily is whom I would want to be my RN. She should be recognized with the DAISY Award because she is EXTRAORDINARY.
