My husband, R, had quadruple bypass heart surgery at a different facility and had a catheter when he came home. One morning, it broke open and infection had set in. I called 911 and we were sent to Burlington. In the Emergency Room, this is where we met Emily who took control of the situation. She stayed with us for most of the morning and late afternoon. Emily took care of R, cleaned him up, called for the night people, and got procedures in place. She did all of this with her beautiful smile and genuine empathy. After hours of waiting, I needed coffee – badly. Emily got it for me knowing that would please me, and it did. Lastly, when I left myself to go home, leaving R in her great care, I asked, “how do I get out of here?” Emily laughed and personally walked me out the doors. She broke my heart with her kindness. I will not forget her.
