It is with profound gratitude and admiration that I nominate Emily Dagley for the DAISY Award. Emily embodies the very spirit of this honor, serving not only as a skilled nurse but as a true guardian of hope and healing.
From the moment she entered my room during handoff, Emily was genuinely happy to be my nurse. She listened to my needs and wants with a level of attentiveness and empathy that immediately put me at ease. I was fortunate to have her by my side during part of my labor with my first child, and to have her as the nurse who delivered my second baby in such an elegant, beautiful way is something I could never repay her for.
Throughout my labor, Emily’s clinical expertise was evident in every step she took. She watched my baby’s monitor strips attentively, adjusting my positions based on how my baby was responding. Her careful monitoring and swift actions gave me a sense of security, knowing that both my baby and I were in the best possible hands. Additionally, she constantly checked in with the doctor to ensure that every decision and action was made in a timely and effective manner. Her proactive approach and dedication to detail created an atmosphere of trust and calm amidst the intensity of labor.
This pregnancy, my goal was to go into labor on my own—a desire that was ultimately out of anyone’s control, including my own. However, Emily held the power to finish out the experience in a positive, empowering way. And she did just that. She coached me every step of the way, providing the guidance, comfort, and encouragement that both my husband and I needed as our beautiful daughter made her way into the world.
