A colleague wrote this about Emily, "She has been an incredible asset to our unit. She came to us from 3E in a time of need and change. She has great interpersonal and leadership skills. She has adjusted quite well and has brought organization and bright cheer to our unit. She always has a smiling face and a positive attitude. One evening she brought homemade protein balls and lemonade to the unit to show appreciation for our hard-working staff. She includes night shift and day shift staff in social events and decision making. She makes sure you know that you're appreciated by sending MVP cards with a personal touch. She is a true advocate for nurses. Even though she follows the rules by the book she always has time to explain the reasons why it's done in that manner. She leads by example and I have never seen her do shortcuts. I will always remember her learning a crucial unit's rule never to stand in the direct direction of a tracheotomy. She is always ready to help another nurse in need. There was an ENT patient whose O2 stats were dropping and the patient was starting to panic. The patient face was turning bright red. She was trying to suction, and the patient began to cough. The mucus plug shot right into her hair. I came around the corner and I saw the distraught look in her eyes. We immediately went into the staff lounge and I washed her hair in the sink. This is also where I found out that she can do a back bend. We can both laugh about the situation now. She has a great sense of humor and I know she will continue to do great things."
She excels in her clinical skills, compassionate care, exemplary service and continued commitment to overall quality. She is a true DAISY Nurse.
