Emily made me remember all the good there still is in this world.
I am delighted to nominate Emily Goldfarb, LPN for The DAISY Award. Emily is a wonderful asset to the team and to the organization. She is an excellent communicator and a marvelous advocate for the most vulnerable patients on our service. Emily always conveys important patient care details and notable findings to case managers and interdisciplinary teammates timely, and her documentation is very meticulous. She has received much positive feedback about her thorough documentation from chart reviewers, and I often receive compliments from teammates who appreciate Emily’s support on their cases.
One nurse reported, “Emily receives so many praises from patients for giving excellent, thorough care with kindness and patience. I am so appreciative as a co-worker and proud of her as a nurse!” Many of the nurse case managers request Emily to be assigned to their patients, as they know the patients will be in the most capable hands and have all of their needs met during those visits. She is extremely skilled in the most challenging hands-on tasks and procedures that are ordered to be performed at nursing visits, including multi-step wound care, negative pressure wound therapy, venipuncture, catheter changes, ostomy management, and much more. Emily never shies away from a challenge and very often volunteers to help whenever PRN needs arise. She travels the entire area from day to day to make visits to patients in need, and she receives many compliments from grateful patients and their caregivers throughout the year.
One patient’s daughter called in to say, “Emily always makes sure Mom’s wounds are very clean and taken care of. She takes her time with Mom’s care and she is just wonderful!” Another patient’s wife called in to give high praise about Emily’s work, and stated she would take Emily anytime over any other nurse because she is so caring. She specifically said, “Emily made me remember all the good there still is in this world.” Also, a patient called in to speak to management because he wanted to ensure Emily receives recognition. He said, “Please recognize Emily; she is a wonderful nurse. She gives me excellent care and always shares her knowledge with me. I have learned a lot from her.”
Emily is known to arrive to every patient with a smile, and she maintains a lovely, positive attitude even when the days are filled with challenges. She never once faltered under pressure even during the Covid-19 pandemic. After receiving high-risk PPE training and getting fit with a N95 she ventured out to many homes with confirmed or suspected Covid-19 and respectfully provided those patients with compassionate care. Emily represents our agency professionally and performs her duties with pride. She demonstrates integrity and supports the organization’s mission each day by helping individuals and families achieve their best level of well-being. It is my absolute pleasure to nominate her for this well-deserved award!
