She was calm, collected, and helpful. She taught me many things that night in a kind and sweet way.
Emily was floated to my unit (NSICU). I was the nurse for a patient who was being transvenous paced and was fully reliant on the pacer. I know very little of transvenous pacing. During the course of the night, the patient moved awkwardly in the bed and his rhythm changed on the monitor. It became apparent that something was wrong with his pacer internally. I felt very much out of control of the situation having not had a patient like this before. Emily took the time to help me troubleshoot the situation and help me get what I needed for the patient. She was calm, collected, and helpful. She taught me many things that night in a kind and sweet way. She was calm in a very stressful situation. She came to my rescue when I needed it the most.
It was one of the worst shifts I have had in my nursing career and Emily made it better. There are not enough words to explain how grateful I am to her for all that she did. She is a DAISY Nurse for her kind, gentle, and teaching spirit. I will never forget that night. And I will never forget how she came to my aid. I aspire to be like Emily as a nurse. Willing to teach in a humble manner, supporting my fellow nurses, and being a knowledgeable resource for others.
