She remained so calm and collected, allowing us to do the same. Her knowledge and expertise were so helpful and utilized immensely on this call.
Emily has shown incredible accountability as one of our senior transport members by continually checking in on our team members, especially newer members such as myself, to make sure we are doing okay and if there is anything that we might need to help us be successful within our team.
An example of this recently was when she had reached out to myself and my partner on a night when we were incredibly busy and did not have a full critical care team available. Emily graciously offered to come in at 2 AM on her day off to come and be our driver to Sioux City so that we could transport a very critically ill neonate that needed to come back to Children’s. Once in Sioux City, she exemplified phenomenal teamwork and collaboration with us and incredible adaptability and innovation, as we had major equipment malfunctions that we all had to troubleshoot together and try to fix in order to transport this patient safely back to Children’s. Unfortunately, we were unable to complete the transport at this time, but Emily was very persistent we were going to give our best efforts and do everything we could to try and fix our equipment problems. She remained so calm and collected, allowing us to do the same. Her knowledge and expertise were so helpful and utilized immensely on this call.
This is just one example, but Emily is always going out of her way to make sure our team continues to grow in a positive direction. She is an integral part of our AOC team and is continually looking for ways to improve our team dynamics and ensure we are prioritizing the needs of our team. She is a fantastic team partner, always willing to work with you and educating along the way if you have any questions, no matter if she is on the call with you or not.
She is always so attentive to her patient’s needs, but also to the parents. Her top priority is getting the patient safely back to their destination and providing the most quality care we can provide, no matter the circumstances. She is everything that exemplifies what an incredible Critical Care Transport nurse should be, and I look up to her so much and am so grateful for her. She is an amazing nurse and our team, and this organization is incredibly lucky to have her!
