The patient who nominated Emma Rae Humphrey for the DAISY Award wrote, "Emma Rae made sure I was comfortable and content both physically and emotionally, all while keeping a big smile on her face."
After spending the evening in the ED, Emma Rae's patient came to the unit late during the night shift. He was terrified over being stuck in the hospital with such a serious event and did not have any family nearby. Emma Rae made his stay comfortable, checked on him frequently and spent time getting to know him. When Emma Rae learned the patient had the lead role for a musical at EMU, she vowed to attend.
"It was one of the nicest gestures I have ever experienced," the patient shared after Emma Rae attended his musical. Emma Rae joined the 2 East Surgical Progressive Care Unit and her patients often share that she is caring and has a lot of patience.
