My mother was helicoptered to this hospital 2 days ago. My sisters and I came as soon as possible to be here. The only thing we knew was that mom was bleeding on her brain. While in the TNICU she was given many tests, CT scans, MRIs and an angiogram. My sisters and I were only informed of what the hospital in Warren had done and what their scans showed. That first night we did not know much. We were all worried and raw with emotion. When we came in the following morning we were not told about any of the results in her tests. Her lab report was printed and stapled together and the nurse handed it to my mother without any explanation of what it said. No information from the nurses- so many tests with no answers.
She got moved to the MICU. At that point, it had been a whole day in with nothing but tests, scans, and no answers. Enter Eric. We asked to speak with someone, a nurse, to please explain to us what the heck was going on. When Eric came into the room my sister explained to him that no one had given us any information. That we understand that we aren't the only ones here, we understand that. There are emergencies that take precedence. But no one had explained anything to us and how unacceptable it was. Emotions were high and tears were shed. We were raw with emotion. Eric handled us and our emotions with compassion and grace. He listened to every word that was said and he listened. He really heard us. He apologized, agreed that it was unacceptable, and said he would get us the answers that we were looking for. He was kind, caring, and compassionate and demonstrated such profound professionalism!
Within five minutes he was back in my mother's room explaining all of the information that he was given. Every bit. In that emotional state, I'm here to tell you that his quick response and kindness meant the world to all of us. He explained things in detail and in a way that we could understand. That was just yesterday. Today our mother is being discharged and we have had the pleasure of seeing Eric again this morning. He continues to impress all of us with his kindness and professionalism. He's giving our mom the very best care.
