Thanks to our nurse, he had surgery to fix it. We are eternally thankful to him. He not only motivated him, but he gave him the tough love he needed at times.
This nurse was asked to put an IV in my husband's foot. My husband has a lot of clots and IVs are difficult. His confidence was reassuring. We were lucky to get him as a nurse. My husband has been in this hospital since August. He is not always cooperative or welcoming. He saw right through him and went out of his way to show he cared. He listened to us about his dislike for dialysis. He figured out that if he gave him anxiety meds before he left, it helped. He would go and check on him and encourage him to finish his session. My husband would always finish early due to many reasons. He started finishing them because of his motivation! My husband told him he finished because of him. He would go out of his way to check on him and show the dialysis nurses where the pain meds were for him.
We are now on a new floor and were told in a very unkind way that nurses don't go to dialysis. It’s what we have known for weeks because of him. If he wasn't on shift, he instructed the other wonderful nurses on the 12w to check on him. My husband now doesn't fuss about dialysis, thanks to this RN.
My husband had an issue with his feeding tube. It was this nurse who was bothered by it and figured it out. Thanks to our nurse, he had surgery to fix it. We are eternally thankful to him. He not only motivated him, but he gave him the tough love he needed at times. He has seen me break down and took time to comfort and talk things through with me. Unfortunately, we were moved off the unit. We were moved when he was on vacation. I was actually counting down the days and told a friend I just had to wait until Wednesday, and he would be back to figure it out. They moved us, and the day he came back, he came and talked to the nurse because of my husband’s complex case. He took time, so our stay on the floor was smooth. He took time so the nurses had more information than just what was on the computer. He continues to check on us. He goes above and beyond.
We have been in here a long time and have had wonderful nurses. We are so grateful to him and his passion for helping people. I'm not sure where we would be if we would have to fight with my husband every other day to go to dialysis. Would a doctor realize his tube was coiled? He took the time to get to know us and my husband's case. I'm so thankful for him. We learn everyday all of things that he and the unit staff members went above and beyond every day on this new floor. We miss him and his unit staff members.
