In January Erica was checking on one of the oncology patients she navigates who was hospitalized. This patient's cancer has metastasized and he most likely will not live longer than 6 months. During the visit, the patient and his fiancé told her they were getting married on Saturday. They planned on having a friend who was a minister perform the ceremony in the hospital bed and were not going to have a cake or flowers or anything special. Erica immediately began making arrangements to have the chapel available, went and got cupcakes and arranged for a bouquet and boutonniere for the couple. Since she wasn't going to be there, she also made arrangements for the gift shop to store the flowers and the floor to store the cupcakes. She went out of her way to make this occasion as special for this couple as possible.
