One of the key players at keeping our unit running so smoothly is our night charge nurse, Ericka Alhambra. She often goes out of her way to help with unit morale by decorating the unit for various holidays, sponsoring birthday parties, showers, educational training and staffing and scheduling in a fair way for the entire unit. It's important to us to have Ericka on our unit. In between our many admissions on the night shift, being pulled in so many directions by families, patients and physicians, we need a stable force which is not easily rattled by the west side of Chicago. Our patients and families are appreciative of her guiding presence in our Pediatrics and PICU units.
