Erika has been an outstanding Manager since I joined the team. Since I was on orientation, she would check in on me to make sure I was getting the most out of my orientation experience. Being a new graduate to join the float pool was nerve-wracking to me, but Erika made the transition easy to follow. She provided me with adequate feedback and resources to help me grow. Furthermore, she customized my orientation experience to best facilitate my growth.

Toward the end of my orientation, I was very anxious and expressed my anxiety about getting off orientation without having performed certain skills. Erika allowed me to share a list of medical conditions/skills I was interested in learning. She ensured I was assigned to the appropriate unit that would allow me to learn those skills. Example: I was interested in seeing CBI, TPN, and chest tube and managing those while having a preceptor by my side. Erika saw that I was eager to learn and ensured I got to see all of them during my orientation.

Erika is an outstanding leader and always ensures that the staff is well-informed about house-wide changes. Being a part of float pool, we must stay updated on the new policy and changes. She provides us with the necessary education appropriately. She holds teammates to a high standard and, in return, allows us to hold them to a high standard as well. She always ensures we hear about any changes directly from her rather than in an email/newsletter. I have truly appreciated the spontaneous five-minute meeting for a quick fill-in. It shows her care towards the team and helps build trust.

I am so excited to be a part of this team and to grow my skill set and nursing knowledge. I am certain that I am set up for success because I am being backed by a great leader who will support and guide me through. I can easily say that Erika has set such a high standard that I could never think of leaving my CRU teammates. I am proud to be a part of a team managed by Erika.
