Erin treated all of us, and, most importantly, my husband, with sincere compassion, respect, and dignity.
Erin was my husband's nurse for several days when he was in ICU for two weeks before passing away in March. Erin was a blessing during what were the most difficult days our family had ever experienced.
Erin is an exceptional nurse, both technically and in her demeanor with patients and families. We were surprised to learn that she had not been in her post long as she conducted herself confidently, professionally, and seemed completely at ease in her difficult role in the ICU. Erin treated all of us, and, most importantly, my husband, with sincere compassion, respect, and dignity. She was not overly familiar, but she retained her humanness in her work and her interactions with all of us.
While we had several exceptional clinicians caring for my husband, Erin was a definite standout. We knew Erin genuinely cared about her patients when she shared that she was going to request that she be assigned as my husband's nurse on her next day at work. Not only were we thankful that my husband would have another day of Erin's excellent care, but my son and I were relieved that the synergy that we had established with her would continue. My husband was in good hands, and we didn't have to orient a new nurse with all that was not reflected in his medical chart. I believe that having Erin at our side gave all of us peace and comfort.
