If I had to write a thousand pages to describe my coworker Erin, I still couldn't write enough. It can be so cliché to say that she is always there for us, but She Is Always There For Us!
The stress that comes with the nursing profession can be compounded by so many factors, especially working in an ICU unit. Yet night after night, Erin continues to be a beacon in the storm. This has become more apparent with the arrival of COVID-19. When the announcement was made that we were to be the flagship unit, as expected, there was crying, fear, anger, and sadness. But she was there to alleviate all of these fears.
Throughout all of the changing information, policies, endless meeting,s and long nights, Erin has stood strong and overcome all of these challenges with grace and kindness. She has done so while continuing to be there for her patients and coworkers. Literally, from sun-up to sundown, she has remained constant in her endless devotion to this unit, hospital, patients, and coworkers.
I recognize that caring for patients is a team effort, and through this pandemic, it has become clear how amazing and compassionate the staff all around Henry Ford Hospital are and can be. MICU POD 4 is diverse, filled with outstanding personnel, and functions as a fluid collective. Yet, through all of the chaos, Erin has stood out as a model coworker, and established herself as the single entity that we strive to model ourselves after each and every day.
