My daughter was brought to the ER after a suicide attempt (she nearly succeeded). Erwin was the most helpful and compassionate health professional that I have ever met. Even though my daughter (the 1st day) refused to see anyone, Erwin did such a great job of explaining her refusal and assuring us that everything was being done to make sure that the outcome would be a positive one. His manner was personal and heartfelt. He touched my shoulder to reassure me that he understood how upset that I was. While HIPPA prevented him from sharing a lot of information, his calm presence put me at ease. Later that night after about 12 hours, I saw my daughter, Erwin was right there and explained why she was so upset and thrashing around. He explained she would be transferred up to a room where treatment would continue. He had such a calm, pleasant demeanor in dealing with me, and with my daughter. ER nurses see people under the worst of circumstances and this young man is able to make the best of these situations. He is a true DAISY Nurse.
