Eunice connected with a patient and their family by giving them her undivided attention. She allowed herself to be fully present during interactions with her patient and focused on what was truly important during her hospitalization.

"We have been in and out of many hospitals with our Mom; she lost her vision 10 years ago. We have said so often, "If they would only treat her like their own mom!" I knew we were in for a long stay this time. We were met by Eunice James on our first morning. During every encounter with our mom, Eunice demonstrated compassion and understanding. Not only is our mom blind, she is also hard of hearing. Eunice spoke very clearly and made sure that Mom understood what was going on. Whenever we asked for help Eunice was prompt to respond. She never seemed too rushed or too busy to provide care for Mom. Eunice was the most compassionate and caring nurse we've ever experienced. She so deserves this award!"

Eunice demonstrates respect and compassion for her patients and their families every day. Her love for nursing and call to care for others is evident in her day to day interactions.
