Finnien is one of our Med/Surg nurses on the night shift. Finnien has received high praises by numerous patients. One patient stated that Finnien was an "excellent team player" and frequently gave praise and encouragement to co-workers. She goes on to say that she received the best care from Finnien, she was always right on time with her care and medications and if she said she was going to do something she always followed thru. If for some reason she was unable to carry out the task promised she would ask for assistance to assure the task was done timely and gave high praise to the staff member that assisted her. Another patient stated Finnien was "always kind, compassionate and always made her feel at ease and happy". This patient also stated Finnien went out of her way to get her a very early breakfast the morning of her procedure so she didn't have to wait until later in the day to eat. This patient also stated that Finnien very often gave praise and good words about her co-workers.
Finnien takes the time out of each and every shift to write on a dry erase board in the patient snack room encouraging words of wisdom and quotes which help boost morale and team comradery. Most of the staff look forward to reading what she has written each day, it is noticed. We are a small rural community hospital which does not have a cafeteria open during the night nor any local restaurants open. Finnien took it upon herself to work with hospital staff to arrange to have healthy salads available to staff who work the night shift. Finnien is a true asset to our hospital and community.
