Francis recognized the vulnerable position I was in and took the time to work through the situation with me, calm my nerves & ultimately make me feel heard and seen, not only as a patient but as a human.
I had been bounced from doctors in Manteca to doctors in Modesto, & because it was the weekend, my records couldn’t be transferred. When I finally got clearance to be transferred to St. Joseph’s, I felt like a pinball in a pinball machine & it truly felt like no one really cared what was going on with me until Francis in PCU became my nurse. I was incredibly emotional when I first met Francis. I felt very vulnerable and defenseless, but Francis was a bright light in a very dark and scary time. I have a pretty extensive medical history and have had many procedures and surgeries; with that being said, no nurse had ever stood out to me the way Francis has. Francis puts the “Human Kindness” in “Human Kindness” and “dignity” in dignity health. Francis recognized the vulnerable position I was in and took the time to work through the situation with me, calm my nerves & ultimately make me feel heard and seen, not only as a patient but as a human. Not only did Francis make me feel better, but he advocated for me to stay here at St. Joseph’s since I knew I only wanted a specific doctor to do my surgery, but I would need to wait for him to return from vacation. I don’t know where I would be without Francis' advocacy. I want to thank Francis for being my lighthouse in the middle of a dark and stormy sea. My hope is that Francis is recognized for his kind spirit, compassionate care, & unwavering advocacy for his patients. It is people like Francis that make the world a better place & I’m truly grateful to him and his care. Thank you, Francis.
