I have had the pleasure of working with Galina as her Director for the past 8 years. Galina is an exemplary Nurse Manager. Not a day goes by that she does not greet and allay any fears for her 8 a.m. start patients. Galina instills in her OR nurses the awareness of being true patient care advocates for her patients. Never are patients more vulnerable than when they are brought in the OR. Her calming voice and assurance truly put our patients at ease.

Galina leads by example. During shifts with high volume, you will find Galina scrubbing into cases to relieve her staff for breaks. She will never leave for the day until she is assured that all OR rooms are staffed appropriately for our patients. Galina has a great working relationship with the Surgeons and, of course, does everything in her power to keep them content and confident to bring their cases to Mercy. She understands that without the satisfaction of our Surgeons and patients, our OR would not exist. Galina is a team player who engages and supports all members of the Peri-Operative Leadership team. It is with great pleasure that I nominate Galina for the DAISY Nurse Leader Award.
