My husband had a fusion prostate biopsy done. By the evening, we had spent seven 7 hours in the ER for high fever, uncontrollable chills, and very low blood pressure. He was finally sent to the ICU at midnight to begin highly specialized antibiotics for his infection and low blood pressure. Gary was his first nurse there and was welcoming, upbeat, and highly efficient. He was doing everything he possibly could to make usbothfeel better, which was important after all that time in ER!
My husband's first day in ICU was free of ups and downs. Gary came back a second night as his nurse with a plan to help him get disconnected from most of his tubes, and ideas of ways to help him get somesleep- something he had been unable to do since his arrival. And it worked: ultimately off the lines and sleeping at last. I told Gary he was our miracleand acted as the hands of God for us.
