Not only did she stop and get pancakes, but Ginger also delivered them to the man and sat and talked with him while he ate the pancakes.
Ginger does a fantastic job as a nurse but exceeds expectation daily in the heart filled way she works with her patients. She makes sure they are taken care of on all levels of human need. During the COVID-19 pandemic, as our wound patient volumes declined, Ginger was seeking ways to help. So, she has been helping to staff the COVID screening areas. On one particular afternoon while at the hospital's main entrance, she had the opportunity to meet an elderly lady who was here to see her hospitalized husband. With restrictions in place to protect visitors and patients, the lady was not allowed to visit. Ginger spoke to the house supervisor and our COVID command center until she was certain she had exhausted all options. The decision was the same, no visitation! Ginger sat with the lady and learned they had been married and basically not apart for over 52 years. The lady explained how her husband was becoming depressed and when she spoke to the nurse, he hadn't been eating anything. In conversation Ginger asked about what he loves to eat, the lady excitedly told her pancakes. Here's where the heart comes in, not only did she stop and get pancakes, but she also delivered them to the man and sat and talked with him while he ate the pancakes. It was a blessed morning of love and fellowship!! Ginger would say she doesn't need recognition, she received her blessing already with the conversation and history she was able to share with this gentleman.
