I would like to recommend Gladys Abot, RN, for her sustained “Commitment” to Patient Care Excellence in the Cardiac/Electrophysiology Laboratories. Despite the increased workload in the Cardiac/Electrophysiology Laboratories caused by the addition of two new registered nurses, two attending physicians, and medical instrument technician staffing challenges, Ms. Abot willingly volunteered to be cross trained to operate the GE MacLab advanced hemodynamic recording system. At the conclusion of Ms. Abot’s GE MacLab training, each laboratory will have increased capacity to perform interventional procedures simultaneously thus improving procedure room utilization, start, and turnover times. In the past, when medical instrument technician support was not available procedures would have to follow each other instead of being conducted at the same time which was a major dissatisfier for physician staff. Ms. Abot is also not hesitant to report to work early, stay late, or rotate to on-call to accommodate elective and or emergent procedures that run past her tour of duty. I continue to receive unsolicited praise from cardiology physician staff and registered nurses she precepted on Ms. Abot’s professionalism and the delivery of nursing care.
