The friendship that we have formed is the one thing I didn’t foresee as we embarked on our journey. Grace is the epitome of what you think of when you want a nurse to care for someone you love.
Where do I even begin to describe the immense amount of appreciation our family has for this incredible individual. In a time where many visits consisted of myself, my daughter, and her nurse, we are so blessed that her nurse on many occasions was Grace.
My daughter was born at 23.6 weeks and we spent 87 days in the hospital. Grace has become my daughter’s honorary momma. My daughter is already blessed to have two mommies and she now has three. This has been the scariest rollercoaster I have ever been on, but Grace made this journey more than bearable, she made this an experience I will never forget. The amount of passion that she exudes while caring for my child made what should have been stressful quite the opposite. Her calm and zen demeanor is infectious. My wife and I found ourselves constantly saying, "what would Grace do?" or is this something worth allowing ourselves to panic over, and usually, it wasn’t. She taught us how to trust our daughter in such a time of uncertainty and unfamiliar ground. The level of education and patience she gave my wife and me simply about my daughter’s day-to-day care is something I will cherish.
The friendship that we have formed is the one thing I didn’t foresee as we embarked on our journey. Grace is the epitome of what you think of when you want a nurse to care for someone you love. She took the time not to just treat my daughter, but I was also unknowingly her patient as well. She believed in me when I didn’t believe in myself and encouraged me when I felt at times I was failing. She cared about my wellbeing and the betterment of my experience as we went through our NICU rollercoaster.
I am beyond grateful to have such an amazing person be a part of my daughter’s story that will help shape her for years to come. I cannot thank her enough for the confidence and encouragement she has given me daily. Grace, there aren’t enough words out there for me to describe the gratitude and appreciation we have for you. To simply put it, we thank you and we thank your family for allowing us to borrow you and become a part of our family.
