No matter what questions we had for Grace, she stopped what she was doing and answered every one so knowledgeably and gracefully.
Our journey at St. Louis University Hospital started Monday at approximately 4:00 am. Our loved one was airlifted from DePaul Hospital to St. Louis University Hospital with a heart condition, a clot in his lung and possible bleeding on his brain. We arrived on 4N around 9 am and that's when we first met Grace. Right then, I knew D was in great hands. With a nurse named Grace, how could he not be? Grace was exceptionally nice and caring and was willing to help us with whatever we needed. She kept us informed on what was going on with our loved one. No matter what questions we had for Grace, she stopped what she was doing and answered every one so knowledgeably and gracefully. Being the nurse for our friend D was probably a little difficult, because he had so many visitors, but again Grace handled all the visitors with gracefulness.
On the second day, Grace had a helper. He was just as caring as Grace. He had a gentle spirit, seemed to care about his patients as much as Grace did, and was just as graceful. We appreciate everything that they did for our loved one on those three days. We couldn't have chosen any two better nurses for our friend. To top it off, Grace clocked out to go home and came to the waiting room to let us know she was gone for the day. As she proceeded down the hall, someone asked her a question about D's care. Do you know she stuck around and spoke to the family member for about 15 to 20 minutes after her shift? What a great nurse, to take time out of her personal time to comfort a family member of a patient. I love her for that.
Even though our loved one passed away, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the care you gave to our friend and family, D. Continue to be the best nurse that you are.
