This is the easiest recognition I have ever completed because Greg embodies all of the Mercy standards. He was a constant encouragement to us and reminded us often he and his church were praying for us.
I don't remember what the date was, but Greg drove in on his day off to administer my wife's treatment because no other chemo nurse was available that night. He doesn't just live right down the street either. He definitely went above and beyond to compassionately serve.
Our entire 12 day stay at Mercy was amazing. We met so many wonderful people, but the one person who was constant through it all was Greg. He made us feel like we had a family member on staff even though we had just met him.
Between the long hours and a very demanding job, it would be easy to let down occasionally and grumble a little or complain; but he never did. He was always so positive and professional.
This morning, my wife and I were at another facility for her treatment and we met someone who had been a patient of Mercy recently. I asked her if she knew Greg and her face just lit up. If you could have seen her face, it was worth a thousand words. She knew exactly who he was and had the same experience.
Our nurse there knew Greg too. She simply said, "He is wonderful!"
My wife and I cannot agree more with that patient's smiling expression and our nurse's words that he is wonderful. Greg is a true DAISY Nurse and he is MERCY.
