My daughter with cerebral palsy was admitted to the City for a major operation. Thanks to God the surgery was successful. However, after the procedure, she was in a lot of pain and she was crying and shouting most of the time. During those days, I was in a lot of emotional pain too. Gretchen was very kind and like an angel, she helped me to overcome the pain that I was going through. She was caring and wears a beautiful smile. She eased my sadness and worries, so I was able to stand on my own and be strong again. She gave us her time to help my daughter recover. She was like my sister and for me, she is the best nurse. Her compassion, commitment, and professionalism were evident. She did not treat my daughter like a patient but more of a family. I nominated her for this award so that she could set an example for her colleagues that love and compassion are important between patients and the nurses whom I consider as angels of mercy.
