As I write this, my wife has been here for 28 days. Every doctor and every nurse has gone above and beyond to take care of her during this time. The one nurse that I would like to nominate is a young man named Gustavo. My wife was admitted with a severe case of pancreatitis. Her triglycerides were at a dangerous level of 6,700. The day after she was admitted, she actually died, and they brought her back with CPR. She was then placed on a ventilator.

When we arrived in the ICU, Gustavo was her nurse. He told us that my wife would be his only patient for that day as well as the next day. There were so many bags of IV fluids going into her body. Gustavo did an amazing job working with her and taking the time to answer all of our questions. Although he only worked with her for those first 2 days, every time he saw us after that, he would ask how she was doing and would also say things that were so encouraging to us. Gustavo is not only knowledgeable about his job, but he is also very compassionate about his patients. My wife is doing much better, and I certainly thank him for the start of the recovery process for her. We will never forget Gustav.
