After the change of shift, Gwen could have gone home, but she took her own time to educate and encourage a very challenging detox patient. Gwen was compassionate and very patient with the woman. She was non-judgmental and caring even in the face of behavior that bordered on aggressive. Gwen diffused the tension with her seasoned skill, made the patient feel valued, thus helping the day RN have a better shift with this particular patient.
