Gwyneth continued to escalate and advocate for her patient so that the patient was able to be transferred via stretcher to be able to be with her baby.
Gwyneth was taking care of a patient in labor. The patient’s baby had known congenital heart anomalies but the parents were holding on to the hope of a miracle. The patient had a C-section and had to go under general anesthesia. The baby was immediately rushed to Legacy tower. After the surgery, Gwyneth and her orientee went to the Legacy tower to check on the baby. The baby was not responding well to any interventions. Initially, the neo did not think the mom would make it to see the baby alive much less hold the baby. Moving a patient after surgery can be complicated and some might have just said it was not possible. Gwyneth continued to escalate and advocate for her patient so that the patient was able to be transferred via stretcher to be able to be with her baby. This mom was able to hold her sweet baby in her arms as the baby took its last breath. The dad was also able to be present. This moment was made possible by the strong advocacy of her nurse and great team collaboration.
