We had a breastfeeding mother who was intubated in the SICU for a few days postpartum. Haley consulted the lactation consultant for a breast pump and supplies. Haley got creative by using a bra from surgery to make a pumping bra to help hold the pump in place for each pumping session since her patient was unable to. Haley was very diligent, ensuring each pumping session was effective and no milk was lost. Haley went above and beyond by providing exemplary care to ensure this mother was able to maintain her milk supply while intubated and sedated. I hope that if I were ever in the situation that this mother was in that I would have a nurse who was equally as compassionate as Haley. She is truly an angel who is passionate about her work.
