We had a patient that just came from the ER with a fall at home and the previous nurse got them settled and reported off to Hannah Breene. A brief period later, I reported to Hannah that the patient was vomiting, and she went in instantly to assess the patient and got orders for medicine to help the vomiting and pushed for a STAT head CT since they had not done one in the ER and he had an unwitnessed loss of consciousness fall. Hannah is a hard patient advocate while taking care of her own assignments and being charged on nights. She is also calm in certain situations; this patient was also able to be transferred to a higher level of care facility, and she even recognized the signs and did not give the sub q heparin, which prevented worsening brain bleed. This same night, another patient came up from the ER with increased confusion and high COPD levels. The ABCs were ordered previously in the ER but were not completed. Hannah noticed immediately and reached out to respiratory when arriving to the floor because of the confusion. Critical care was called, and they needed to be transferred to the ICU for bipap immediately! She is such a caring and passionate nurse who advocates for her patients!
