Without saying a word, she locked eyes with me and nodded her head so I knew everything would be OK.
Heather is an angel in human form! She is always business but at the same time, she is compassionate and understanding. I always looked forward to her knock on my door, to hear her cheerful voice and see her smiling eyes. Heather was always straight up with me and my wife and was always a total professional. In addition to her demeanor with her care for me, she is a nurse one would hope to be around in a real emergency.
I had just returned from having an angiogram completed and was laying totally flat in the bed. Heather was going over specific requirements with both me and my wife after the procedure and what to expect. She checked my wrist as the doctor had tried the wrist approach first but was not successful. The groin area where the angiogram was done was then checked. Heather never changed her expression nor did she say a word…she immediately put pressure on my groin area with one hand and reached over and hit the red emergency button with the other hand. Still, without saying a word, she had another nurse call for the Rapid Response Team. It seemed like just seconds and the room filled with people. Heather never released her pressure until a nurse from the Cath lab took over. Heather did not leave but instead moved by my side, looked at my wrist, and began checking my pulse and heart. Without saying a word, she locked eyes with me and nodded her head so I knew everything would be OK. She then looked at my wife and repeated her nod. I recognized both of my cardiologists as well as the day duty doctor at my side and I understand that there were 2 more doctors in the room plus a number of nurses assisting. Heather never moved from my side, constantly checking me and watching my wife. Heather demonstrated very clearly the epitome of what a nurse should be. As said earlier, Heather is surely an angel in human form. I thank God that he made sure she was my nurse that day.
