I was in the Labor in Delivery unit from October 22nd – 24th and Heidi was my nurse. From the moment I met Heidi I knew I was in good hands. She was quick to respond to my requests and made sure she did everything in her power to make me as comfortable as possible. At the time I was sent to labor and delivery I was 27 weeks pregnant. The doctors felt it was imminent that they would be delivering my baby within the next day or two. Heidi sat with me explaining the readings from the non-stress test and ultrasounds, in a way that I could understand. She really wanted me to understand and be comfortable with all the information I was being fed.
As I sat in the operation room waiting for a C-section, Heidi calmed my nerves and explained what was happening with the baby. As I sobbed on the table waited for them to start the procedure, she literally held me and hummed a song in my ear, in order to calm me down.
After it was over, Heidi came back to check on me and I thanked her for all she had done. I told her how she had truly made a difference during a very stressful time. To top if all off, as I laid in bed, in the mother baby unit, the following day, Heidi came by just to see how the baby and I were doing. . I felt like I was sitting next to a childhood friend, not a nurse.
Employees like Heidi are what make this a premier hospital. I would really appreciate it if you would consider this formal recommendation and honor Heidi for the wonderful things that she does as a part of normal daily work routine.
