Heidi Crezee was our son’s nurse for two of the nights he was in the NICU. Her first night with us was after a very frustrating day. I felt like I had hardly been able to participate in my son’s care and had only held him twice in his 36 hours of life. I was so frustrated that I sent my husband to check on our son, and I stayed in my room. I got a call from my husband telling me he was going to help me down to the NICU. When I got there, Heidi was very encouraging. She asked us to do our son's care, and she helped us develop a plan to incorporate breastfeeding into our son's care. This was the first time anyone on his care team had made an effort to make sure our wishes were known. She also was very informative about the plan for our son. Again, this was the first time someone had made this effort. She even had the night practitioner come in and discuss his care plan with us. Heidi was so sweet with our little one and a godsend for me and my husband. Knowing she was caring for our little guy gave us a lot of comfort. She helped us develop a plan that felt right for us and for our little one in those early days of his life.
Heidi’s experience and expertise made a world of difference for our little family. Her compassion and empathy were unmatched. She had us feeling optimistic for the first time since our son’s admission. I know she only took care of our son twice, but her care is not something we will soon forget.
