Hemlata was so knowledgeable about my sister and her situation. She educated her, shared the plan of care, and was present in the moment just when we needed her the most.
My sister had triple bypass surgery at Baylor Scott. This has been one of the most difficult experiences for me, for my sister, and our family. I prayed to God that I could be a sister and not a nurse. So many times, when families are in the hospital, I end up being a nurse, advocating for my family. This is the first time in my nursing career that I could be a sister and not a nurse. I did not want another day to go by without acknowledging all the nurses, PCT, and staff for caring for my sister. Especially Hemlata! She is a spectacular nurse. My sister experienced a stroke after her open-heart surgery, and Hemlata was to the rescue. She was on the phone, talking to the doctors about her blood pressure and getting medication to bring her blood pressure down. She even helped my blood pressure go down. My sister is my best friend, and I could not imagine my life without her. Hemlata was so knowledgeable about my sister and her situation. She educated her, shared the plan of care, and was present in the moment just when we needed her the most. She could tell we were tired and worn out. She made sure my sister‘s pain was under control. She encouraged her and me. Every time she said she would come back, she always did. She didn’t miss a beat. She went above and beyond every time! I’ve never in my 31 years met a nurse like her. She made everything smooth for us. We were even blessed to have her as our discharge nurse. She has inspired me! If we had more Hemlata's, our healthcare organizations would be better! Thank you, Hemlata, for making the difference! I will never forget you!!!
