Having someone with the “gift” to relate to each of us, from different backgrounds, making each person feel safe is truly remarkable.
Mom and I were on a flight back from Hawaii, home. On our first leg (LAS-LAX), mom had an episode on the plane and was taken to Cedars Sinai. Hershy was our ER nurse. Mom has dementia and repeatedly asks the same question(s) “what’s your name?” etc. Hershy NEVER lost his patience and answered each question like it was the first time hearing – rather than the 7th time (I tried to redirect, and Hershy just took it in stride – assuring me it was OK). Hershy was responsible for 3 beds in the ER. Mom had the first bed; 2nd bed was patient (the curtains were open, and I had a view of both beds – I made friends with the patient). Later on, the 3rd bed was taken. They closed the curtains, grandmother with her granddaughter. Hershy related with each of us. He patiently answered her questions – and joked with Mom. He chatted with the patient, making the patient feel special and assuring him the doctor would see him soon (which was true). He made the patient and me laugh as well. The 3rd bed, grandma and granddaughter – he checked on grandma, calling her grandma (a real Hawaii thing), they ended up laughing with Hershy as well. Being in the hospital is stressful – being in the ER is VERY STRESSFUL. Having someone with the “gift” to relate to each of us, from different backgrounds, making each person feel safe is truly remarkable. Hershy was very knowledgeable, using Layman’s words, keeping me updated. It is with utmost confidence that each of his patients felt safe, trusting him. Also, professional and caring. Thank you, and Aloha

Hershy provided exceptional care to my friend when she came in with a kidney infection. He was kind, funny, compassionate, and extremely knowledgeable. He made a situation that could have been a real drag feel like a fun field trip.
